For those of you who have not visited the Point Molate Beach Park check out the attached photos. Point Molate is a hidden jewel. It is open from sunrise to sunset seven days a week with plenty of parking. 

It is so scenic that painters and photographers are regular visitors. On occasion kayakers shove off from the beach. Point Molate beach is an urban beach; don't expect a Hawaiian sandy beach. Nevertheless, it has a beauty all its own that changes with the seasons as well as changing weather patterns.

There are picnic tables there alongside barbeque grills. For solitude Mondays through Fridays are the best days to visit. Weekends tend to bring in the serious picnickers but even then there is plenty of parking and lots of places to be alone.

You'll need to bring water since there is none available there.

Point Molate is the last exit before the Richmond-San Raphael bridge.

Friends of Point Molate, is always looking for new volunteers. We meet once a week to restore and preserve the natural beauty of the park. We meet on Tuesday mornings from 10am-12. 

We generally put in two hours of work. We have done this work with as little as two people and as many as six or seven. Because there are patches of poison oak in certain areas we suggest that you wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt and gloves. You’ll also need work gloves because all the work is hands on. You work at your own speed. There are no bosses. For the most part we are retired men and women.

Regardless of whether or not you volunteer is not the point. Friends of Point Molate want you to visit and enjoy the park. Should the area be threatened with development it would be hard for us to defend the park unless people know and understand what would be lost if this beautiful area was developed. Protecting what few natural areas we have left is a constant struggle.
