I have been a resident of Richmond for 13 years and the President of the Point Richmond Business Association for the past four years. I have been involved with many events in the area — and this one is by far my favorite to work on.
The Point Richmond Business Association in conjunction with Let’s Grow Richmond are proud to be hosting the 6th annual “Picnic in the Point” to benefit Washington Elementary School PTA, Richmond Swims and PRAM (Parents, Resources and More) on Saturday, October 17.
The event runs from 12pm to 5 p.m. at Judge G. Carroll at W. Cutting Boulevard and S. Gerrard Boulevard.
This year we are excited to announce that Trout Fishing in America will be performing. Trout Fishing in America has been nominated for several Grammy Awards in the Best Musical Album for Children category, along with three National Indie Awards and numerous Parents’ Choice awards
In addition to Trout Fishing in America, we will have Dana Louise and the Glorious Birds perform. “Drawing from jazz and bluegrass, carrying a contemporary beat, the sound is roots-rooted flung-into-the-future folk.”
The event is free for the public to enter.
Games for kids, food and drinks, face-painting, jumpy houses, Bubble Soccer from PlanetXone, and more activities for people of all ages will be available to participate in with the purchase of tickets.
The picnic is a fundraiser, with sales of food and drink tickets benefiting local nonprofits. Those food and drink tickets are available for advance purchase up through Oct. 16 at the Up & Under Restaurant (2 West Richmond Ave.) and Smith Office Solutions (210 Washington Ave.) Advance Tickets are available on EventBrite at as well.
I look forward to seeing you all out at the Point!
