What: A reception for a new piece Richmond Muralist Daud Abdullah, whose work can be seen all around the Bay Area 
When: Friday, March 6th, from 3 pm to 5 pm
Where: 23 Maine Avenue, Richmond
Why: Abdullah is one of the city’s premier artists. Come out to support his work and enjoy his latest mural.

An Art Reception from Mayor Butt
What: A reception at NIAD Art Center of work selected by Mayor Butt
When: Friday, March 6th, from 4 pm to 6 pm
Where: Office of the Mayor Tom Butt, 450 Civic Center Plaza, third floor, Richmond
Why: NIAD Art Center hosts some incredible artists. Come out to see how Mayor Butt has collaborated with the center to highlight some of the artists’ work.

Arbor Day Tree Planting
What: Groundwork Richmond is hosting a tree planting event for Arbor Day.
When: Saturday, March 7th, at 9 am
Where: Booker T. Anderson Park, Richmond
Why: Arbor Day is the official holiday of tree planting. While the official day is still a few weeks away, this is your chance to join Groundwork Richmond to get a head start and plant some trees.

Sisters in Solidarity 2015
What: The 8th annual women’s day celebration from the City of Richmond. 
When: Saturday, March 7th, from 10 am to 3 pm
Where: Nystrom Elementary School, 230 Harbour Way South, Richmond
Why: With the theme “Women Make it Happen”, this year’s Sisters in Solidarity event is a moment to celebrate the achievements of women in the city.

WCCUSD Accountability Plan Community Town Hall Meetings
What: A discussion on the WCCUSD’s Local Control Accountability Plan, open to the public
When: Saturday, March 7th, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am
Where: King Elementary School 4022 Florida Avenue, Richmond 
Why: This meeting, the last of three scheduled for this year, is a chance for parents, teachers, and all involved stakeholders to discuss issues pertinent to the school district.

Bay Trail Plant Restoration
What: The monthly plant restoration event at Point Isabel 
When: Saturday, March 7th, from 10 am to 12 pm
Where: Point Isabel, Richmond
Why: Formerly overgrown with invasive species, these regular restoration events have helped turn Point Isabel into a thriving nativ ecosystem. Come out to help in the effort!

Art Classes at RAC
What: The Richmond Art Center has a number of unique classes this weekend
When: Saturday, March 7th and Sunday, March 8th, at various times

Why: Featuring encaustic studio time, a quilting workshop, and more, this weekend the RAC offers several classes to pique your artistic interests.
