RPAL Back to School Carnival
What: A weekend-long event from the Richmond Police Activities League (RPAL) with free school supply giveaways, games, and much more.
When: Friday, August 21st, from 5 pm to 11 pm; Saturday, August 22nd, from noon to 11 pm; Sunday, August 23rd, from noon to 11 pm
Where: 25th and Barrett, Richmond
Why: A final chance to have fun in the sun while preparing for school, the RPAL Back to School Carnival is a great opportunity to have fun before classes begin.

What: Luv Stoned performs at The Baltic
When: Friday, August 21nd, at 9:30 pm
Where: The Baltic, 135 Park Place, Point Richmond
Why: Luv Stoned is back at the Baltic. Come out for some live jams and good brews.

Safe City Summer Super Saturday
What: A collaborative event from the Richmond Police Department and community members to meet local beat officers and learn crime prevention tips
When: Saturday, August 22nd, from 10:30 am to 2 pm
Where: 450 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond 
Why: So far, 2015 has seen a rise in crime in Richmond. This event is a chance to make connections with RPD beat officers while enjoying a relaxing day in the sun.

#Sk8board in2 Physics!
What: A day of skateboarding while exploring the physics behind the sport
When: Saturday, August 22nd, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm
Where: 29th Street and Macdonald Avenue, Richmond
Why: Skateboarding is fun, and an understanding of the physics behind the sport might just give skateboarders a new appreciation of the sport.

Pedro’s Salsa Connection
What: A unique Salsa event at The Baltic
When: Saturday, August 22nd, from 9:30 pm to 11:30 pm
Where: The Baltic, 135 Park Place, Point Richmond
Why: Best known for its good drinks and rock music, The Baltic is mixing it up with some Salsa music and dance this evening.

The Richmond Our Power Festival
What: A day of fun in the sun to showcase alternative forms of power, from bike-powered concerts to a solar-powered popsicle truck 
When: Saturday, August 22nd, from noon to 5 pm
Where: The Richmond Greenway, entrance  at Ohio and 16th, Richmond 
Why: With free health screenings, cash free swaps, and much more, the Richmond Our Power Festival is a day of rejuvenation and community activism.

WaterWerks on the Bay
What: A one-of-a-kind car show at the Craneway
When: Sunday, August 23rd, from 8:30 am to 4 pm
Where: The Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way South, Richmond
Why: German car owners from around the Bay Area will descent on the Craneway for a day of competition and much more.

Soulful Softball Sundays
What: The last week of the summer softball game series focused on building connections in the community
When: Sunday, August 23rd, from 2 pm to 4 pm
Where: Nichol Park, Macdonald Avenue at 31st Street, Richmond
Why: Bringing together people from all parts of Richmond, the Soulful Softball Sunday games gather the community for a safe, fun game of softball. This week is your last chance to join in on the fun, so go out and play ball.

Music on the Main
What: Andre Thierry and Caribbean Allstars bring their Louisana stylings to the street for an evening of music
Where: Marina Way and Macdonald Avenue, Richmond
When: Wednesday, August 26th, from 5 pm - 7:30 pm
Why: The Richmond Main Street Association’s Music on the Main series is one of the best chances to hear live music outside in the city. Come out for an evening of great jams.

Crop Swap
What: An event to trade excess produce from your garden with your neighborhoods.
When: Thursday, August 27th, from 5 pm to 7 pm
Where: Richmond Public Library Main Branch, 325 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond
Why: Have a few too many zucchinis, but not enough tomatoes? Come by the crop swap and you might just find what you’re looking for — while offloading some of your own excess produce.
