San Jose Mercury News: Richmond candidates in town hall debate Saturday

blogimage.jpgLocal radio personality Steven Parker of the Steven Parker Radio Show on KGM1.com will host a town hall style debate for all Richmond's candidates for mayor and City Council on Saturday at Miracle Temple Church on 2425 Cutting Blvd.

The three-hour event will be broadcast live, from noon to 3 p.m., on KGM1.com.

"This election is as important as any ever in the city," Parker said. "I want to get all the candidates into one forum and ask tough questions so the people can be informed come November."

Among the topics to be discussed are controversies in public housing, crime and public safety, economic development and the Chevron refinery. Three candidates for mayor and a dozen for City Council are expected to participate. The event is free and open to the public.

Voter registration booths and health education services will be available for all members of the public who attend.
