What: A day festival in John F. Kennedy Park focusing on new plans for the space

Where: John F. Kennedy Park, Richmond

Quilting at the Richmond Art Center
What: A quilting workshop at the Richmond Art Center

Where: The Richmond Art Center, 2540 Barrett Avenue, Richmond
Why: The Richmond Art Center hosts some of the best art workshops in the city, and this quilting is a chance to make your own handcrafted blanket.

Learning About the RPD’s Marine Unit
What: A talk at the Richmond Museum of History about how the Richmond Police Department Marine Unit protects the city’s 32 miles for shoreline.
When: Sunday, July 26th, from 2 pm to 3 pm
Where: SS Red Oak Victory, 1337 Canal Boulevard, Richmond
Why: The RPD’s Marine Unit is one of the city’s least visible but no less important departments that protects the city. This event is a chance to learn what they do, and all proceeds go to benefit the department.

Zumba on Main Street
What: Richmond Main Street Initiative’s weekly free Zumba class
When: Thursday, July 29th, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Where: BBK Center for Health and Healing, 310 9th Street, Richmond 
Why: Zumba is a fun, high-energy dance workout, and Richmond Main Street Initiative’s regular Thursday classes are a great time to learn a few moves while burning some calories.

Crop Swap
What: An event to trade excess produce from your garden with your neighborhoods.
When: Thursday, July 29th, from 5 pm to 7 pm
Where: Richmond Public Library Main Branch, 325 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond
Why: Have a few too many zucchinis, but not enough tomatoes? Come by the crop swap and you might just find what you’re looking for — while offloading some of your own excess produce.
