The Richmond, CA City Council appointed community members to a Reimagining Public Safety Task Force to review alternatives to the traditional model of public safety.
At their meeting of Wednesday the 24th of March, 2021, the task force heard a presentation from Jim Nantell, Employment & Training Interim Community Services Director. He presented a Process Clarifications Question Memo for discussion. Several task force members spoke harshly and negatively about whether Mr. Nantell should even be allowed to present these questions for discussion. There were concerns voiced that he isn't from Richmond, he is relatively new to the community and he did not meet some of their basic qualifications to weigh in with his presentation. Mr. Nantell withdrew his matrix from consideration.
There were also a few reports from the subcommittee working groups.
