In the spirit of seasonal charity, #GivingTuesday is here. Today is a chance for members in the community to give back to local nonprofits that make a difference in Richmond.
Here are five ways you can get involved:
1. Support the Richmond Main Street Initiative
With the goal of revitalizing the city’s downtown corridor, the Richmond Main Street Initiative holds regular job training sessions, community events, and fitness classes to evolve how the community interacts with this neighborhood. If you donate on #GivingTuesday, you’ll be entered to win a year membership and swag from the Richmond Tennis Association.
2. Contribute to an innovative arts center
NIAD Art Center provides a place for adults with physical and developmental disabilities to practice art and display their work. The nonprofit organization relies on support from donors to keep this mission going, and it's easy to pitch in.
3. Donate to the Richmond Community Foundation
A leader in mobilizing financial resources for the betterment of the city, the Richmond Community Foundation works to strengthen local nonprofits and increase their long-term sustainability. By donating on #GivingTuesday, you can support this mission.
4. Help fund local art classes at the Richmond Art Center
Every year the Richmond Art Center engages over 1,600 local children in art classes — often with little or no out of pocket cost. A donation to the local art center will ensure that these opportunities continue.
5. Do your part to create a more bike-friendly city
Rich City Rides supports healthy living and a healthy planet through its focus on spreading the use of bikes in low-income communities. The local nonprofit has become an institution in the city over its past three years of operation, and your donation will keep is running well into the future.
