If the pundits are to believed, Richmond will melt this weekend into a big puddle of goo and it's entirely possible that some people may burst into flames.
Common sense would tell people to stay hydrated, wear plenty of sunscreen if they're outside and whenever possible--stay cool.
When the weather gets this warm, we often forget that our pets may have a difficult time coping with the heat. Here in Richmond we passed a law several years back outlawing the ownership of pets. We can be their guardians but not their owners. Since our pets are now free, taking care of themselves in a heat wave like this should be their own responsibility but just in case, maybe we can be good guardians and make sure they have plenty of water at their disposal and lots of shade to rest in.
