David A. Brown: Richmond Rotary’s 3rd Annual “Buy A Kid A Bike” to benefit the Richmond/El Cerrito Fire & Police Holiday Program

blogimage.jpgLast year, the Richmond Rotary Club raised over $13,000 to buy bikes and helmets for kids in Richmond via the Richmond Firefighters Bikes For Kids Program, in cooperation with the Coronado YMCA and others. For each donation up to $4,700, the Club matched the donation.

We've gotten a late start this year so I'm reaching out to Radio Free Richmond to get this thing going. For $47, you can buy a kid a bike and a helmet. For $470, you can buy 10 kids bikes and helmets. And if we get enough of a response, maybe the Club will decide to match gifts even more than last year.

The Rotary Club of Richmond is a 501c(3) charitable organization, and donations are deductible to the maximum extent authorized by law. Copies of our 501c(3) documentation are available on our website.

If you want to help this year with this hyper-local project and give kids the joy of having a brand new bicycle and helmet, send your check to Richmond Rotary, c/o David A. Brown, Treasurer, 3260 Blume Drive, Suite 410, Richmond CA 94806. Let's bust the doors down, y'all, and hit $15,000 this year!
