When possible, Radio Free Richmond attends candidate forums, video records them, posts them to YouTube and then shares the links. Learning of these forums is almost as difficult as learning national secrets. If anyone knows of a forum coming up, please share this information with Radio Free Richmond by emailing the editor at [email protected].
It costs a fortune to run a campaign and with limited financial resources, getting a message out to the voters can be next to impossible. For instance, for the WCCUSD School Board, there are 121,075 registered voters in 66,017 households. Now try to imagine what it might cost to send just one small mailer to each household. A candidate can have the solutions to all of the problems but if they can't get their message out, how can they expect to win?
These forums can help educate the electorate. As new forums come up, Radio Free Richmond will try to keep the public informed. There is a meeting of the Fairmede/Hilltop Neighborhood Council this Thursday, Sept 27th where the two candidates for Richmond Mayor have been invited to take questions. The event will be held at the Hilltop Community Church at3118 Shane Drive in Richmond and is expected to start at 7:00 PM.
