When: Saturday, October 17, from noon to 5 pm
Where: Judge G. Carroll Park, W. Cutting Boulevard and S. Gerrard Boulevard, Richmond
Why: Featuring a performance by a Grammy award-winning band, family fun, and great food, the Picnic in the Point is a one-of-a kind event, and all of the proceeds go to benefit local nonprofits.

What: Free how-to seminars, workshops for home improvements, and discount products — the East Bay Home Show is a chance to learn how to tackle household projects big and small
When: Saturday, October 17, from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday, October 18, from 10 am to 5 pm
Where: The Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way South, Richmond
Why: When else can you get free hands-on demos and tips to improve your house? Check out the Home Show for the latest trends in home renovation.

Bay Trail Plant Restoration
What: The monthly plant restoration event at Point Isabel.
When: Saturday, October 17, from 11 am to 4 pm
Where: Point Isabel, Richmond
Why: Formerly overgrown with invasive species, these regular restoration events have helped turn Point Isabel into a thriving native ecosystem. Come out to help in the effort and to spend some time in nature.

The RYSE Film Festival
What: The first-ever film festival from the local youth center
When: Saturday, October 17, at 7 pm
Where: East Bay Center for the Performing Arts 339 11th Street, Richmond 
Why: Showcasing short films from local youth inspired by the theme “Truth Be Told: Justice Through My Eyes,” this festival aims to empower youth through cinema.

Meeting of the Minds
What: A conference on the individuals and ideas that are pushing urban innovation
When: Tuesday, October 20 through Thursday, October 22, from 10 am to 5 pm
Where: The Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way South, Richmond
Why: Now in its 9th year, the Meeting of the Minds will bring together over 400 opinion-shapers, policy leaders, and innovators to find solutions to urban sustainability.

Freshest Cargo: Mobile Farmers' Market
What: The mobile farmers’ market Freshest Cargo makes its rounds in Richmond
When: Wednesday, October 21, from 10 am to 3:30 pm
Where: Various locations. From 10 am to 11:30, the truck will be at the YMCA located at 263 South 20th Street. From 12 pm to 1:30, the truck will be at Chelsey Ave at Fred Jackson Way in North Richmond. From 2 to 3:30, the truck will be at the Parchester Community Center located at 900 Williams Drive, Richmond'
