Opening of “The Gamester” at Masquers Playhouse

Artful Play Richmond
What: A day of art and play to inspire creative thinking about neighborhood problems

Where: Grant Elementary School, 2400 Grant Street, Richmond
Why: Blending art and play into conversations around improving neighborhoods, the Artful Play Richmond event invites attendees to create unique works of art while enjoying a day of fun.
Healthcare Signup Event
What: A day of learning about healthcare options and signing up for the right program for individuals and families
When: Saturday, January 23, from 10 am to 2 pm
Where: The Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond
Why: There are a lot of questions to answer when signing up for health care. Come out this Saturday to find answers and sign up for the program that works for you.
Kennedy Park Grand Opening
What: The grand opening of John F. Kennedy Park in Richmond
When: Saturday, January 23, from 1 pm to 2:30 pm
Where: John F Kennedy Park, Richmond
Why: After hundreds in the community came out to rebuild the park in the fall, John F Kennedy Park is ready for its grand opening.
Exploring the Black Panthers in Richmond
What: The opening reception of the new exhibition at the Richmond Museum of History focusing on the history of the Black Panthers in Richmond
When: Saturday, January 23, from 2 pm to 4 pm
Where: Richmond Museum of History, 400 Nevin Avenue, Richmond
Why: While the Black Panthers’ history in Berkeley is well know, the organization also has a significant history in Richmond. Come out for a free opening of the exhibition.
Pedro’s Salsa Connection
What: The monthly salsa night at The Baltic
When: Saturday, January 23, at 9:30 pm
Where: The Baltic, 135 Park Place, Point Richmond
Why: Pedro’s Salsa Connection mixes up the music at the Point Richmond pub and invites you out for a night of salsa dancing.
Birdwatching at Landfill Loop
What: A walking tour of the avian life around Landfill Loop
When: Monday, January 25, at 9 am
Where: Meet at the Landfill Loop parking lot, at end of Parr Boulevard, Richmond
Why: Richmond is host to dozens of unique and beautiful birds. This walking tour is a chance to become familiar with them.
Storytelling Open Mic
What: Kaleidoscope Coffee, Point Richmond’s newest coffee house, hosts a storytelling open mic
When: Tuesday, January 26, at 7 pm
Where: Kaleidoscope Coffee, 109 Park Place, Point Richmond
Why: An unusual kind of open mic from an unusual sort of coffee shop, Kaleidoscope Coffee’s storytelling open mic is a chance to embrace the art of storytelling while enjoying some of the best coffee in town.
Freshest Cargo: Mobile Farmers' Market
What: The mobile farmers’ market Freshest Cargo makes its rounds in Richmond
When: Wednesday, January 27, from 10 am to 3:30 pm
Where: Various locations. From 10 am to 11:30, the truck will be at the YMCA located at 263 South 20th Street. From 12 pm to 1:30, the truck will be at Chelsey Ave at Fred Jackson Way in North Richmond. From 2 to 3:30, the truck will be at the Parchester Community Center located at 900 Williams Drive, Richmond
