Freedom Change at the East Bay Center for Performing Art
What: A part of the Iron Voices Project, “Freedom Change” is a program to open dialogue on race and opportunity, with a focus on young African American men
When: Friday, April 3rd and Saturday the 4th, at 8 pm
Where: East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, 339 11th Street, Richmond
Why: The East Bay Center hosts some of the most compelling performances in the area. Come out for a youth-led evening exploring contemporary issues of race.

Slappin Saturdays hip hop at The Baltic
What: A night of hip hop with DJ Omar & Crew at The Baltic.
When: Friday, April 3rd, from 9:00 pm to 11:30 pm
Where: The Baltic, 135 Park Place, Point Richmond
Why: From jam sessions to karaoke, The Baltic offers diverse music and a fun venue to hang. The new Slappin Saturdays hip hop nights is just the latest venture in The Baltic’s mission to bring fresh music to Richmond.

Point Isabel Plant Restoration
What: The monthly plant restoration event at Point Isabel 
When: Saturday, April 4th, from 10 am to 12 pm
Where: Point Isabel, Richmond
Why: Formerly overgrown with invasive species, these regular restoration events have helped turn Point Isabel into a thriving native ecosystem. Come out to join in the effort!

Wagging Tails and War Tails
What: A dog-friendly history walk along the Bay Trail
When: Saturday, April 4th, from 10 am to 12 pm
Where: Starts at Sit and Stay Café in Point Isabel and walks up Bay Trail, Richmond

1st Saturday: See & Make Art
What: A guided tour of the Richmond Art Center galleries and a hands-on art making event
When: Saturday, April 4th, from 3 pm to 4:30 pm
Where: Richmond Art Center, 2540 Barrett Ave, Richmond
Why: A leisurely stroll through art galleries is the perfect inspiration to make some art of your own, and that's exactly what this event offers. Come out to see local artists' work, and then join their ranks.

Easter Bonnet Brunch at Assemble
What: The first annual Easter brunch at Assemble. Make sure to wear a zany hat to score a free mimosa

Why: With good food, goofy hats, and a great view of the bay, Assemble’s Easter brunch is great way to celebrate the holiday.

Annual Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National Service
What: A day celebrating our city’s volunteers
When: Tuesday, April 7th, from 12 pm to 1:30 pm
Where: Foyer of the Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Plaza, Point Richmond
Why: In recognition of people’s dedication to volunteer service, the Mayor is celebrating the many individuals who help others in our city.

Freshest Cargo: Mobile Farmers' Market
What: The mobile farmers’ market Freshest Cargo makes its rounds in Richmond
When: Wednesday, April 8th, from 10 am to 3:30 pm
Where: Various locations. From 10 am to 11:30, the truck will be at the YMCA located at 263 South 20th Street. From 12 pm to 1:30, the truck will be at Chelsey Ave at Fred Jackson Way in North Richmond. From 2 to 3:30, the truck will be at the Parchester Community Center located at 900 Williams Drive, Richmond
Why: Densely urban environments are often the most difficult places to find fresh produce. Freshest Cargo has a mission to change that, one neighborhood at a time. Stop by for quality food at affordable prices.

What: Richmond Main Street Initiative’s weekly Zumba class
When: Thursday, April 9th, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Where: BBK Center for Health and Healing, 310 9th Street, Richmond
Why: Zumba is a fun, high-energy dance workout, and Richmond Main Street Initiative’s regular Thursday classes are a great time to learn a few moves while burning some calories.
