Why: The winter months can be a difficult time to find fresh fruits and veggies. Stop by the weekly, year-round farmers market for some quality produce. 

 

Portraits in Oil Pastel
What: A class at the Richmond Art Center exploring portraiture through oil pastels 
When: Saturday, March 14th, from 10 am to 4 pm

Why: Oil pastels offer a unique range of possibilities. Attend this class to explore a new medium and brush up on your portraiture

Sister to Sister Empowerment Conference
What: A day of women's empowerment, with conversations on how to improve from bad situations and create greater sisterhood. 
When: Saturday, March 14th, from 11:30 am to 3 pm
Where: Praise Fellowship Bible Church, 5221 Central Ave Suite 100, Richmond
Why: This event is part of an effort to create solidarity among women in Richmond to help overcome struggles and improve upon each others lives. Come out to celebrate the sisterhood.


BAD Girls Season Opener
What: The season opening double header of the Bay Area Derby Girls roller derby league
When: Saturday, March 14th, from 4 pm to 10 pm
Where The Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way South, Richmond
Why: The Bay Area Derby Girls are one of the toughest roller derby leagues in the country. Come out to see their season opener and to cheer on our very own Richmond Wrecking Belles!

Where: Bayview Branch Library, 440 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond

Historical Film Viewing
What: A viewing of the 1992 film “Shining Through” about a woman who goes undercover into Germany to learn about the V2 rocket.

Why: The historical film series from the Richmond Museum is a great — and entertaining — way to brush up on some history.
