Fandango Jarocho at the East Bay Center
What: The free monthly celebration featuring Mexican music, dance, song, and poetry
When: Saturday, May 16th, from 9 am to 12 pm
Where: East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, 339 11th Street, Richmond
Why: For over 30 years the East Bay Center has helped cultivate the art of Fandango Jarocho in the East Bay. Come out to celebrate this culture and to have a good time.

Martial Arts Skills for Free
What: Organized by the Richmond Main Street Initiative, this free karate class taught by Master Taylor is open to anyone 6 years of age and older.
When:  Saturday, May 16th, from 10 am to 11 am
Where: BBK Center for Health and Healing, 310 9th Street, Richmond
Why: Promoting self-confidence, strong character, and strong will, this karate class is good for the body and the mind.

Bay Trail Plant Restoration
What: The monthly plant restoration event at Point Isabel
When: Saturday, May 16th, from 10 am to 12 pm
Where: Point Isabel, Richmond
Why: Formerly overgrown with invasive species, these regular restoration events have helped turn Point Isabel into a thriving native ecosystem. Come out to help in the effort and to spend some time in nature.

Noah’s Ark Day
What: An event to promote education and adoption of animals
When:  Saturday, May 16th, from 10 am to 2 pm
Where: Christ the Lord Church, 592 Tennent Avenue, Pinole
Why: Ever wanted to adopt a cat (or an iguana, or a dog), but didn’t know how to care for one? Here is your chance to learn, and, potentially, adopt one of your own.

Del Sol String Quartet at RAC
What: The string quartet returns to the Richmond Art Center for a performance inspired by Mildred Howard’s current exhibition
When: Sunday, May 17th, from 2 pm to 4 pm
Where: Richmond Art Center, 2540 Barrett Avenue, Richmond
Why: Inspired by the multi-media, multi-generational work of Mildred Howard, this performance by Del Sol String Quartet is an exploration of sound and inspiration.

Ride of Silence
What: A ride around Richmond to commemorate those who have been killed while biking
When: Wednesday, May 20th, from 5 pm to 7 pm
Where: Gather on the steps of Richmond City Hall (5 minutes due east of Richmond BART
Why: Biking can be a fun, free, eco-friendly way to get around, but it can also be dangerous. This ride raises awareness of the dangers of biking on the road and promotes safety from drivers and bikers.

Freshest Cargo: Mobile Farmers' Market
What: The mobile farmers’ market Freshest Cargo makes its rounds in Richmond
When: Wednesday, May 20th, from 10 am to 3:30 pm
Where: Various locations. From 10 am to 11:30, the truck will be at the YMCA located at 263 South 20th Street. From 12 pm to 1:30, the truck will be at Chelsey Ave at Fred Jackson Way in North Richmond. From 2 to 3:30, the truck will be at the Parchester Community Center located at 900 Williams Drive, Richmond
Why: Densely urban environments are often the most difficult places to find fresh produce. Freshest Cargo has a mission to change that, one neighborhood at a time. Stop by for quality food at affordable prices.

Richmond Main Street Farmers' Market
What: The weekly farmers’ market from the Richmond Main Street Initiative 
When: Wednesday, May 20th, from 10 am to 2 pm
Where: 13th Street and Nevin Avenue, Richmond
Why: The Richmond Main Street Farmers’ Market has some of the best produce in the city. Their stands feature fresh fruits and veggies from local farmers as well as a new initiative to make this food more accessible to low-income households.

Karaoke at The Baltic
What: The weekly karaoke night at the Point Richmond Pub
When: Thursday, May 21st, at 10 pm
Where: The Baltic, 135 Park Place Boulevard, Point Richmond
Why: When else but during a karaoke night can you belt out whatever strange song you may love in front of a room of curious onlookers and it be totally acceptable?
