Art in the Community Student Art Reception
What: The opening reception of a show celebrating work from students across WCCUSD
When: Saturday, May 9th, from 3 pm to 5 pm
Where: Richmond Art Center, 2540 Barrett Avenue, Richmond
Why: Part of the Richmond Art Center’s Art in the Community endeavor, this is a one-of-a-kind exhibit of our community’s youngest artists

What: A Mothers’Day pancake breakfast on the historic ship
When: Sunday, May 10th, from 9 am to 12:30 pm
Where: SS Red Oak Victory, 1337 Canal Boulevard, Richmond
Why: The SS Red Oak Victory is a gorgeous vessel, and enjoying pancakes and mimosas on its main deck while taking in Bay views is a delightful way to start a Sunday.

Historic Film Festival
What: The Historic Film Festival continues with “The Josephine Baker Story”, the story of a woman who gets swept up in the life of American Vaudeville shows
When: Tuesday, May 12th, boarding begins at 6:30 pm, and the film starts at 7 pm
Where: SS Red Oak Victory, 1337 Canal Boulevard, Richmond
Why: Viewing a historic film on a historic ship is about as close as you can get to the real deal. Come out to enjoy a movie and take a trip back in time.

Open Space Conference 2015
What: The 25th anniversary of the Bay Area Open Space Council, which is dedicated to maintaining open, natural spaces. 
When: Wednesday, May 13th, from 5 pm to 9 pm
Where: The Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way South, Richmond
Why: With an indoor “campfire”, great food, live music, and more, the Open Space Conference is a time to celebrate natural spaces and discuss ideas for continued preservation.

Richmond Main Street Farmers' Market
What: The weekly farmers’ market from the Richmond Main Street Initiative 
When: Wednesday, May 13th, from 10 am to 2 pm
Where: 13th Street and Nevin Avenue, Richmond
Why: The Richmond Main Street Farmers’Market has some of the best produce in the city. Their stands feature fresh fruits and veggies from local farmers as well as a new initiative to make this food more accessible to low-income households.

Bike to Work Day 2015
What: The annual bike to work day!
When: Thursday, May 14th, from 7:00 am to 9:00 am
Where: Richmond
Why: With four “energizer”stations set up around the city and support from local organizations, biking to work has never been easier.

Zumba on Main Street
What: Richmond Main Street Initiative’s weekly free Zumba class
When: Thursday, May 14th, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Where: BBK Center for Health and Healing, 310 9th Street, Richmond
Why: Zumba is a fun, high-energy dance workout, and Richmond Main Street Initiative’s regular Thursday classes are a great time to learn a few moves while burning some calories.
