Free Fandango: Jarocho
What: The free monthly performance of traditional dance at the East Bay Center for Performing Arts 
When: Saturday, August 15th, from 9:00 am to 10 am
Where: East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, 339 11th Street, Richmond 
Why: Featuring musical traditions from Southern Veracruz and some of the best dancers in the East Bay, this monthly concert series presents international culture right here in Richmond.

Bay Trail Plant Restoration
What: The monthly plant restoration event at Point Isabel
When: Saturday, August 15th, from 10 am to 12 pm
Where: Point Isabel, Richmond
Why:  Formerly overgrown with invasive species, these regular restoration events have helped turn Point Isabel into a thriving native ecosystem. Come out to help in the effort

Chill With a Cop
What: A meet and greet over ice cream with officers from the Richmond Police Department
When: Saturday, August 15th, from 11 am to 1 pm
Where: Harbour Way & Macdonald Avenue, Richmond
Why: A chance to learn about crime prevention tips and talk with Richmond’s beat officers while enjoying free ice cream, the Chill with a Cop series is a great way to bridge the gap between the police and the public.

Rosie’s Rally to Break a World Record
What: A rally of over 1,000 Rosie the Riveter lookalikes at the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historic Park
When: Saturday, August 15th, from 1 pm to 3 pm
Where: Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park, 1414 Harbour Way South #3000, Richmond
Why: Put on some work boots, denim coveralls, and a red bandana and do your part to help Richmond break the world record for the number of Rosies gathered in the same place at the same time.

Soulful Softball Sundays
What: The new, weekly softball game to bring together the community
When: Sunday, August 16th, from 2 pm to 4 pm
Where: Nichol Park, Macdonald Avenue at 31st Street, Richmond
Why: Bringing together people from all parts of Richmond, the Soulful Softball Sunday games gather the community for a safe, fun game of softball.

Free Back to School Haircuts
What: An event to give kids free haircuts and school supplies before the classes start, organized by Praise Fellowship Bible Church in Richmond
When: Sunday, August 16th, from 2 pm to 8 pm

Why: With a fresh look and new school supplies, Richmond students are bound to have a strong start to the school year.

What: An event to trade excess produce from your garden with your neighborhoods.
When: Thursday, August 20th, from 5 pm to 7 pm
Where: Richmond Public Library Main Branch, 325 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond
Why: Have a few too many zucchinis, but not enough tomatoes? Come by the crop swap and you might just find what you’re looking for — while offloading some of your own excess produce.

What: The first ever movie night at the cooperative community bike shop
