Pancakes on a naval vessel
What: A walk on the Bay Trail to SS Red Oak Victory where a pancake breakfast will be served.
When: Sunda, August 10th from 9 am to 1 pm
Where: The Shipyard 3 section of the Bay Trail, Richmond
Why: The SS Red Oak Victory is a gorgeous vessel, and eating pancakes on its main deck while taking in views of the Bay is a delightful way to start a Sunday.
Movies in the Point
What: A movie showing in Point Richmond of "Mood Indigo," a romance fantasy by Michel Gondry
When: Friday, August 8th at 5 pm and Saturday, August 9th at 2 pm
Where: The Magick Lantern,125 Park Place, Point Richmond
Why: Point Richmond movies offer a chance to see movies rarely shown in theatres. The tickets are cheaper than your typical movie, too. This is a chance to enjoy a mesmerizing film on a big screen in a beautiful setting.
A week of celebrating health
What: We Care Connect is a chance to enjoy free food, lean about the Affordable Care Act, and how to talk with your doctor, organized by Lifelong Medical Center.
When: Wednesday, August 13th from 6 pm to 8 pm
Where: The Richmond Public Library, 325 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond
Why: There is hardly a better incentive to learn about health care than free food. This event is a chance for everyone to come out and learn about how they can get ACA insurance and take advantage of the resources available.
Partying at a farm
What: Party on the Farm is a day to celebrate urban agriculture, Richmond youth, and community service.
When: Saturday, August 9th from 11 am to 2 pm
Where: Sunnyside Organics, Richmond
Why: There will a farm-style family lunch, a celebration of 2014 Summer Sustainability Internship Program, and education on urban agriculture.
