Barnidge: Richmond council meetings are fun, even without the shouting and screaming
The mayor didn't spend the evening pounding a gavel, no recesses were called for tempers to cool, and the police didn't have to clear the room even once. My first visit to a Richmond City Council meeting in a while had none of the rowdy outbursts that highlighted past meetings, but that doesn't mean it was short on entertainment.

City Council moves forward with Point Molate study
Point Molate may soon have a purpose. The Richmond City Council unanimously agreed last night to contribute funds for a real estate consultant to survey the area and make suggestions for best use. The funding of this consultant is the first step in the arduous process of rehabbing the troubled 412-acre site.

Redge Green: Why I Came Back to Richmond to Co-direct Freedom Change
This weekend, Bay Area communities have the opportunity to watch Freedom Change, an original play that I co-directed along with Jordan Simmons, Artistic Director of East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, and the Director of the Iron Triangle Theater Company. Freedom Change is a new work of the Iron Voices Project, an ongoing public dialogue about race and opportunity with a special focus on young men and boys of color, led by East Bay Center, in coordination with a wide range of local partners.
